PART II: Eddie’s Busts Men’s Fashion Myths

We’re back with another one of those myth-busting blogs. You commented. We listened. On our last post, we talked about freeing yourself from outdated men’s fashion myths. After that post, we received incredible feedback and even more fashion myths in need of the Eddie’s treatment. Let’s dive in for another instalment of . . .

Hey, Eddie. What’s Up With This Fashion Myth???

MYTH: Mixing patterns is a crime against fashion

Eddie: Press the brakes on that hyperbole. Men’s fashion is experiencing a renaissance in terms of patterns. Mixing them is a great way to stand out and get noticed. This can be a subtle choice or more pronounced. Again, what’s more important is about finding the right balance in your outfit.

MYTH: I’m a medium in one brand, so I’m a medium in all brands.

Slow your roll. In a perfect world, you’re a universal medium. This world ain’t that. From Dale of Norway to Valentino, and every brand in between, your size will fluctuate. Don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s them. Sizes are an approximate and vary from country to country and manufacturer to manufacturer. This myth is busted, large.

MYTH: Floral patterns are only for the ladies.

We’d like to kindly show this archaic sexism the exit. Floral patterns allow men to make fresh fashion statements. And if you’re worried, don’t be. From Milan to Millet, floral patterns are a great way to add an accent to your outfit. And if anyone says otherwise, send them our way. At Eddie’s, the fashion education during your visit is gratis.

MYTH: Socks and slacks must match.

This myth is a bust. You know what puts pep in your step? Socks that pop. Think of your outfit like a symphony. Every garment has its part to play. Sometimes your socks might match your slacks because you’ve made a choice to add pop and balance elsewhere. Or maybe as you sit confidently at that boardroom table, lifting one leg to cross over the other, you show a little sock. It matches your tie, not your pants. You don’t need to say a word. Your socks are doing the talking now. And they just got you a big fat raise, probably.

MYTH: People will judge me for who I am, not just how I look.

Sadly, this just isn’t true. Everything you wear is a message to the world around you. You might be a high-rated lawyer, but if you show up to a client meeting in sweatpants, that client might make their own, less-than-favourable rating for you. People are constantly making micro-judgments about others. It’s a survival trait. If you don’t believe us, stop by the store. Let us pick one outfit for you. Not only might it enhance how you feel inside, it could also enhance how others you meet feel about you.

Fashionable Concluding Statement

From tip to tail, your outfits speak volumes about you. You don’t have to follow trends to look great, but it’s still important to make conscious decisions that help project the person you want people to see. You’re unique and deserve to stand out. We can help. Stop on by and we’ll help you look your best. Coffee’s already on.
